We grow Arctic char in a very sustainable way on Iceland's southwestern peninsula.
The water in which the char is grown is rainwater and meltwater that has been filtered through the porous volcanic rock. The water is so clean and pure that we do not need to use any medicines in our production.
Due to the heat in the soil, the water is 10-11 degrees Celsius all year round, the perfect temperature for fish to grow.
Electricity is supplied via generation from steam. The residual product provides heat in our facilities. In other words, we do not use fossil fuel either at the farm or in the offices and processing.
